Hello everyone! My name is Foyinsola, and I’m excited to welcome you to my blog, TerminalDreamz. As a Year 13 student studying IB Computer Science, I’ve faced challenges and celebrated successes that I can't wait to share with you.

MyDream.txt

My dream is to study this fascinating subject at either King’s College London (KCL) or the University of Warwick. I hope to inspire other girls who are interested in STEM fields along the way.

In this blog, I’ll explore various topics:

  • Computer Science News

  • Education ( IB and GCSE notes )

  • My experiences as a female student in a largely male field.

I want to create a welcoming space where we can discuss our challenges, share helpful resources, and celebrate our accomplishments. Whether you’re a fellow student, a parent, or just curious about technology, I hope you find something valuable here.

My Journey in Computer Science

Being one of the few girls in my STEM classes has been both empowering and challenging. It’s shown me that representation matters. Girls need to see themselves in roles where they have historically been absent. For example, a study by Girls Who Code found that only 24% of computing jobs are held by women. This emphasises the need for more female role models in technology.

I still remember the first time I wrote a simple program. It felt like magic! The excitement of creating something from scratch and watching it come alive on the screen was incredible. I want to share that thrill with you and show you that anyone can learn to code. No matter where you start, there’s a place for you in the tech world.

In my blog, I’ll share tutorials, tips, and resources that have helped me. From exploring coding languages like Python and Java to brainstorming project ideas, I aim to make computer science accessible and fun for all.

The Importance of Representation

Representation in STEM is crucial, especially for young girls. Looking around my classroom, it’s common to see more boys than girls, which can feel discouraging. However, sharing our stories can help inspire more girls to pursue their interests in technology and computer science.

I plan to feature interviews with other female students and professionals in the tech industry. These women have faced their own challenges and have valuable lessons to share. For instance, interviewing a software engineer who overcame obstacles in her career will highlight that success is achievable.

Community and Support

One of the most significant aspects of my journey has been the support from peers and mentors. Building a community is essential for success, especially for girls in STEM.

I’ll share resources for finding mentors, joining clubs, and connecting with other students who share similar interests. For example, joining a coding club can help you meet like-minded friends and learn together. Together, we can create a supportive network that encourages growth and learning.

Embarking on This Journey Together

Thank you for joining me on this exciting journey at TerminalDreamz! I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences, insights, and resources with you. Whether you’re a girl interested in computer science, a student navigating Year 13, or someone curious about the tech world, I hope you find inspiration and support here.

Let’s embark on this adventure together, breaking down barriers and celebrating our achievements in STEM. Don’t forget to subscribe to stay updated on my latest posts, and feel free to reach out with any questions or topics you'd like me to cover. Here’s to dreaming big and making those dreams a reality!
